K.I.D.S – „Kids in deficient situations“

The most valuable goods of all nations and societies are their children, this is without controversy. This capital has to be supported and cosseted. But also the preparation through elementary and pragmatic activities for their future life is part of assistance.

To support and educate kids in deficient situations worldwide not only charitable thoughts are essential, but also a number of well balanced partners who work on this problem in a long lasting and sustainable manner and keep on communicating. Not only governments and multinational organizations but also commercial enterprises with social responsibility as well as non-governmental organizations are applied to call attention to grievances of this kind.

Possibilities have to be provided to guarantee the academic and later on also the professional education of all children through adequate means. In a last consequence, this possibility avoids the multiply impeached facts of child labour, possible dilapidation up to prostitution and drugs but also simply the decay of family structures. This is what K.I.D.S aims to do.

K.I.D.S helps in a long-term manner. Since 1993 the organization lobbies for the academic and professional education of children in developing countries. The aim is to ameliorate the conditions of education, apprenticeship and employment. The situations on site are assessed most accurately before a decision about the possible and reasonable measures is taken. K.I.D.S – employees care for a sustainable implementation together with specialized staff and local partners. At this time two projects are actually run by the organization - the Migros kids school and the Day care centre. A more detailed description of these can be found on the single project sites. Its activities are financed through sponsorship, membership fees and special funds.

Migros Fund

Migros has financed the buying of the property, the building of the premises, the inventory and initially the maintenance costs with a fund.

Migros Etiquette

With the acquisition of a “Kids etiquette” the local suppliers of Migros finance the current costs for books, school uniforms, salaries, busses and the electronic and water supply of the school in Tirupur. All articles of Migros coming from Tirupur are marked with the etiquette.

From  2002 Migros allocated more funds for the next three years which were used for the upgrading of the matriculation school. This upgrading financed amongst others the following acquisitions:

• Two more school busses
• Acquisition of the sports and play area
• Sports and play equipment
• Renovation of the old building
• Garden and plants
• Facilities for a Lower kinder garden

as well as the purchase of more school uniforms, books and educational material.
