Migros customers donate for new school desks

Also at this year's Bio-Marché, the largest organic festival in Switzerland, the Migros bio branch committed themselve for Migros KIDS School and raised a pricely sum of 1370 €. This amount supports the Migros KIDS school with the interior of two new classes with tables and benches for the children.

Beyond this specific project support, Migros also finances the increase in the school building of the 11th and 12 class as well as the construction of a kindergarten. The construction work begins in summer 2010. The latest news and developments of the work, can be tracked on this site.

Machen Sie mit bei unserem Projekt „Brillen für die Kinder in Indien“. Keine Brille zu besitzen - trotz schlechter Sehleistung - bedeutet, dass wir uns im Alltag nicht zurechtfinden können. Sehr vielen Kindern geht es in Indien/Tirupur genauso.

New Movie

A German student for film journalism visited Tirupur and the Migros Kids-School to show daily Indian life and the Migros Kids-School in a new movie.

The film provides an insight view of the kids with their families and at the school and gives the audience an easier understanding of the local conditions.

It takes the audience on a journey to the school in Tirupur and unveils contrasts and social distinctions on its way.

The project is currently in its last steps of editing, cutting and mastering. The new KIDS movie will be available on this page within April.

Sport

The sports ground and all volleyball courts are comple ted by now and in regular use by the kids. It had immediate effect on the childrens´ motivation to go in for all kinds of sports!
Altogether, the school kids achieved outstanding results in sports and frequently came off as tournament winners!

Development of solar collector

The first part of the solar panels was finished in March 2009. The extension of this installation is scheduled for Spring 2010. Until now, the Migros Kids School is energized by 30% from the own solar plant.

Also the new computer room is now fully energized by solar power. Most children use the opportunity to learn to use computers although some useful software for the proper use is still missing.
